Well, Had a good day todaY with the new gear (500F4 Is and 1.4tc) and what I'm learning is that reach is no longer an issue (in most cases). This allows me to get closer to certain species that avoid me before.

Here's a wooduck (90% of frame).

Very nice low angle here Marc, love the eye and overall detail. Great color and BG. Not at work today? How long is your long weekend? The answer I guess is 700mm long;)

Man, I'm so damn jealous. There are so many birds I would love to pursue with 700mm that I can't get anywhere near now! Excellent shot.

Outstanding shot of my favorite duck. It looks like you are becoming very familiar with that lens.

You are finding out about the great side of this lens. When will you find out about the bad side?

Although they are beautiful ducks, I have seen lots of images of them that are not very good. Yours is excellent. Are they very hard to expose correctly? I have never had a chance, yet.

"Are they very hard to expose correctly?"

I would say yes mainly due to the whites. But I tend to get them in first light, that seems to work or on cloudy/overcast days. This one was taken on a sunny afternoon but in a somewhat shaded setting.

But their are a joy to observe during breeding season.

Thanks for the complement!
