These three shots were taken last week, at the same time as the "Barbwired Swallows" thread. Of all the fields' fence posts this Savannah Sparrow chose this most interesting and natural looking one. I carefully crept up to it with my car, hoping it would not fly away. It didn't. I took a series of shots and slowly drove away happy while the bird continued watch from its chosen, preferred perch.
EXIF for all three shots: 1/125s, f/6.3, ISO400, 370mm.

Beautiful shots Dan. I got one yesteday mroning as well but it was pretty bleached out by the sun.

Sweet shots Dan. I think I like the first one best but I reserve the right to change my mind. I saw a Savanah yesterday and got some shots but not this close and not on such a nice perch...great dtail in the moss and post and I like the dark BG. Excellent!

well you posted them in the order I would have rated them # 1 is perfect but I always like the windblown look that #2 represents ,,,

Nice shots Dan, you captured all the angles, all the colors are evident. Love the stump, excellent bokah. Vwery well done.

Looking at the series reminds me of a wonderful memory. Up early and having walked through the long grass covered in dew to spend a leisurely morning fly casting for big browns with the birds keeping me company. Spectacular!
