What do you think of this. The plane sits on a huge sandy area, in the middle of one of my favorite golf courses.

ilya~~~Hello :)
Fantastic picture! Is that one Huge sand-trap? I would be tempted to climb into the pilot's seat and have a go with the shot. What is the name of the course?

Hi Bill -
This is at Scotland Run, in South Jersey. They have huge waste areas, and they've put planes, old cranes, farm equipment all over the place. Its really nicely done. It is like a huge sand-trap, but you can ground the club and you don't have to rake. The challenge is, if you're in there, to get the ball out - and you're about 25 yards at times below fairway. Great photo opps all over the place, i have to go back there soon and get more scenic views with my new 17-40.

This is a neat photo. Everything about it, colour and focus seem great.
I just hope they don't still consider this plane missing. :D

I agree with the other posts, great pic and great colours.
very poor aircraft maintenance though - he he
I wonder if it would look good in monochrome as well? of course you would lose the nice yellow tones, but sometimes old wrecked things look good in mono too.

How about this, I think the aged sepia look is back in vogue this fall -

Actions? I've always done sepia in selective color (convert to b&w then back to rgb, then play with the colors). I'd love to have an action for it. Would it be too much to as if you could please send a copy to my addy?

This here was done with filters unlimited. It has a great aged photo effect. You can add to the level of desaturation or add dust and scratches.
The reason why I like this so much is if you notice the tones compared to the last sepia effect in that one the yellows come out dark. In this they come out brighter.
I even left a small bit of colour here without completely desaturation the photo.
What do you think ilya?

Colin,
That's nice too. I was going for the slightly weathered look, i think i took a lot of blue out before applying Sepia. (the process is B&W - Sepia - Old age)Here's another variation on the theme that gives more highlights, except I haven't added the old age

Your look is great. Seems a touch brighter than my version but the tone seems bang on. I like it.

I love the sepia effect that you originally created (the one you posted right after the colour photo). I think I'm getting into a highly subjective territory here when I say that the colour version is just not the right look for this photo. You have here a very interesting subject with a very uninteresting background. My mind tells me to look at the plane but my eyes keep wondering toward the ridge to the left and the bushes to the right of the plane. The way I see it, the background is fighting for attention and in my case it keeps on winning.
Now, the sepia effect is a different story. The background becomes almost invisible and my eyes are completely drawn toward the plane which now has an incredible amount of presence. The effect is almost magnetic and I find it hard to wonder away from it. As a matter of fact, the plane is all that I see.
The aged effect that Conk did brough out more detail on the plane, but at the same time it gave the bushes and the grass a slightly faded greenish tint. I found this to be distracting and once again my eyes kept wondering toward the bushes, more than I cared to do.
I think the highlights on the last photo were strong and overbearing, the wing of the plane almost blended with the flat surface of the ground. I found my self looking at the fuselage of the plane while the wing almost became part of the background.
Like I said, highly subjective, but that's the way I reacted to each of the 4 versions of the photograph. Two thumbs up for the sepia effect, it gave the plane lots of presence and an interesting magnetic effect.
I liked this photo so much that I'll save it in my HD. Thanks for sharing.
