visited Borde Hill gdn in W.Sussex this morning. Wish i'd gone on my own as I could have spent longer shooting bugs! Anyway these two were captured:
a male Scorpion Fly:

Wonderful shots RM.
That scorpion fly looks odder than the hoverfly if that's possible. I've been there a couple of times for the Summer open air concerts.

I don't know if scorpion fly is common over your side but it look totally alien to me. That's one super cool insect! Excellent!!!

reasonably common; if it looks alien to you it must be strange! They dont sting by the way.

great shots RM...... that scorpion fly is an amazing shot, I don't think i've ever seen a scorpion fly (maybe scotland is too cold for them?)
