does anyone know about this DC10 recorder when i bought it i was told at the shop that the roxio dvd software would capture the movie off the recorder to my computer, but when i try to do this i am being told /this version of roxio doesn't support capture you will have to upgrade to roxio pro/i feel cheated and will not do this on principle, does anyone know of software that will do this with a usb cable as the dc10 does not have a firewire connection
thanks RAY

Can you take the DVD out of your camcorder?
If you can, then DVD-Ripping software would work.
Give DVD X a try (http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/dvdx/DVDx_2_5_1_setup.zip) (Thats a direct link to the file, go to here for info on how to use it) (http://www.labdv.com/guide/dvdripandcopy/dvdx_guide-en.html)

sorry I know your looking for answers but I wanted to know how you like DVD recording. I read somewhere that it only records 30min but I guess thats a decent amount of time. I was looking into the new DC100 but im not sure if I should just stick to MiniDV.

i think its great you can get 1 hour on a lesser resolution and the difference is not that much lesser, but i use the best resolution you get half an hour ,but now that i have got nero 7 i can string 3 or 4 videos together it really is a good program i am very satisfied

the time factor can be annoying, but also think how many times you will be recording that long of an event? Do you really need to watch the whole piano recidle with no breaks? would you ever watch it again? Seems better to just have your kids part of it.
Most of the time you'll be doing short clips anyway, so it isn't a factor for most. The cost of the disks is a big deterent though, and especially when Sony couldn't keep up with demand for a few months right around the holidays. I must give sony huge credit for their bluetooth mic though
