First posts with this lens! Got a rough start: Had to send lens to service after 1 days usage because of AF issues. Just got it back yesterday and now after 500 shots it seems that lens is ok. I'm a little disappointed of the AF performance in "low" light (didn't have any problems in normal indoor lighting with EF-S 18-135 or EF 200 f/2.8L or 17-55 f/2.8 IS which I only had a week) this lens seems to backfocus every now and then if there's not enough light.

Lens is also a little softer than I hoped for, but I like the focal length over 17-55.

Great detail. I have to say though, the watermark completely ruins and detracts from an otherwise good image. I'm not sure how this picture is marketed, but I would be too distracted by the watermark to think about buying the image.

+1, Unless you are trying to keep a client from stealing it, I would remove the water mark and put it smaller and out of the way.

if someone really wanted that image it would be a 10 minute photoshop job to remove the water mark.

Is this with center focus point only or with all of them selected?

Tried everything.. I try to test with center focus point, but I have also tried the other points. It seems to back focus only @24 mm, I guess I'll take it back to store next week. If I pay this much for a lens I definitely do not want it to spend every other week at service.

But I take my word back about the softness.

100% crop from test image (son's eye.. ). Sharpness =4 in DPP, no other edits.

Sadly, after having many photos stolen wholesale for commercial use I've had to watermark. The photo's not for sale, it's for a magazine in the music industry :)

The 35L is amazing but I have so many weddings coming this year and I feel the 24-70 will be more useful and I won't need to change lenses every now and then. Probably to buy 50L or another 35L later because I also need fast lens and 2.8 is just not fast enough in some occasions.

The 24-70 and a 5d2 can cope with most normal lighting indoor conditions at iso 3200 and 2.8 quite comfortably Daniel.

Beyond that you will need to use bounce flash etc.

I have a siggy 50 and 85 to turn to when the 24-70 just cannot cope.

It depends on where and what you are shooting. it also depends on your style, eye and influences. I tend to use a 35L and 85IIL pretty much all day at UK weddings. I take a 16-35IIL for the wide end.

Very true. I would love to have both. But, I think my budget might allow for an 85 f/1.8 later on. Or if I do get the funds, another 135L. For what I do, those two types of lenses would be great together.

Thanks Adam good to know. I have thought many times about selling this lens mainly because I don't really need it (nothing to do with the mark 2) but for as much photography that I do for fun, when I do something that is paid I like having this lens as an option because its so versatile.

Sky was in flames tonight! I was freezing like *** but just couldn't leave. Had to stop when I didn't feel my fingers anymore.. :) Interesting to pack gear when you can't feel anything with your fingers! -16 degrees and 1,5 hours without gloves.. :)
