Here are a couple of pictures of a Great Egret that landed in a tree very close to me. I was sitting in my auto stalking a green heron, when he landed almost right above me.
Comments welcomed.

Both are excellent shots Keith but I have a slight preferance for the first mainly for the pose the bird has taken. Good control of exposure, it's not easy to keep those whites from burning out as I found out to my cost when shooting Swans in sunny conditions recently. Composition and a nice blue sky also make these winners in my book.:)

Great shots Keith. You were so lucky to be so close to take these excellent shots. The first shot is amazing, and the second shot is even more amazing.

Love that white on the blue sky, fantastic exposure. Did you have poloarizer on? The sky is as stunning as the Egret.

No I did not use apolarizer for these. These were shot about 7:30AM The sun was still low in the sky directly behind me. I could see that dark sky in the viewfinder. I shot quite a few with the same effects...

Those are super captures, Keith, and the levels are pretty near perfect - tough to get detail like that on a white bird.

Yes Mark this was pure luck, imagine my surprise when he landed right above me in the tree,:):), he even positioned himself to take advantage of the lighting....So I guess all those "missed" ops have a way of balancing out...

Thanks all for the comments!

Kieth, Great capture! Here in Maine I never see these Egrets in trees! There are some around but mostly in the marshes. - Bob
