Hi all,

Tomorow I will go to pick up my new 10D. I am a bit afraid because of the AF problems with some series of the 10D.
So I want to be sure to get the latest version.

Who can tell what serial# reflects a recently produced 10D ???

Thanks,

Armand

(both me and my EF 24/2.8 lens can not wait :-) )

I envy you _BIGTIME!_ unless my sallery this month is unexpected high, I can't pick up my 10D for at least a month. (Both me and my 50mm f/1.4 lens can not wait ;) )

Who says you will get the latest 10D the factory produced?

You may be getting one of those that have been sitting in the inventory room for six months. If a store was out of stock and got a new shipment, that is where you want to buy a 10D. If you are not sure (and stores won't tell the truth if they had old ones because they would want to get rid of them), you could wait until Christmas. They should have new ones by then.

You want it now? Check whether 300D has solved the autofocus problem.

That's why he was asking what the latest serial #'s are. The should be in the xxx80's or so. Who the latest 10D newbie? What's your serial #?

I don't know if this helps.
0630302378 (bought in Hong Kong, returned because of front focusing)
0830301151 (bought in Hong Kong, returned because of front focusing)
0720302039 (bought in the US, keeping: day shooting perfect. Under low light conditions, I have to learn its limitations)
Does this give you any clue? Perhaps other serial numbers of perfect 10Ds will be helpful.

I picked mine up in mid August #0720305112. I've gone thru most of the test & no problems as of yet.

Thanks for your input guys!

So it seems like the '08' serial# is one of the latest produced and the '07' serial# is (also) a safe one to go for.

Hope to get some more serial# input though of some very fresh and very happy 10D owners ;-)

Armand

I have one starting with 4 and no problems, I sold one with 5 and also no problem. I believe there is only a small ammount of camera's with the problem.

The focus problem appears to be a QC issue and quite random. Hungover inspector maybe? Monday morning blues? If yours is bad send it and your lenses to Canon for adjustment.

I did hear that Canon services have asked to have some lenses along with the body for focus calibration, but shouldn't the lenses work on any body without calibration unless the lens itself is cause for trouble? The body should be the one to be fixed, not the lens..

When you send the lenses everything gets centered. That way tolerances all come together.
