Will be getting my 420ex tomorrow for my G1.

How do you determine the bounce angle? Let's say, for example, off the ceiling. Should it be more vertical for closer subject and vice versa as subject is further away? Or does it matter?

Thanx, LeRoy

LeRoy:

Imagine you wanted to bounce a ball off the ceiling and hit the subject in the face. That should give you an idea of the angle you should use. Then it's trial and error.

I use a softener attachment on my 420ex. Either a softbox or an 80/20 reflector. If I'm very close to the subject I use -2/3 flash comp on the camera. More than 6-8 feet away and I turn the flash comp off. Good luck.
