So yesterday I was outside trying to take some photos of some birds when out of the blue a blue jay dive-bombs me. Well, I set the camera to manual focus in Manual mode with the burst and waited. Sure enough he did it again. Here's a 100% crop of what I did get of him/her. Sorry it's so soft, but I had it on a set focus (guestimate). I probably should have run some noise reduction/sharpening, but I was in a hurry.
Thanks,
Reed

Why didn't you use AI Servo mode? The compostion is great but the photo is a bit oof.

The shot is out of focus however if a Bluejay is divebombing you then you must be near its nest... these guys are ususally pretty skitish. You could return to the same spot and try AI Servo for continuous focus or manually focus an area you think he will enter.

Yeah, my Pro1 doesn't have AI servo, unfortunately, so that's not an option. I had the focus set to where thought it would be, but I think I focussed too far away.
Thanks,
Reed
