I just got this SD630 to replace my SD450. I'm used to often turning off the LCD display to save battery power for the 15 to 60 seconds in between taking shots on the old model by pressing the display button repeatedly until I get to the standby mode. How can I do this with the SD630? Pressing the display button cycles either between showing settings and modes on-screen or not showing them all the while having the LCD on. I don't want to turn the camera on and off every few seconds between taking pictures as that would wear out the lens. Am I missing something in the directions?

Since there's no viewfinder, there's no way to toggle off the LCD, but you can go into the setup menu (yellow tab), select POWER SAVING, and set the DISPLAY OFF to 10 seconds or something. When you move the camera or press a button, the LCD screen will illuminate again.

I noticed the power saving mode but everytime I move, the display goes back on. Anyway to defeat this and only have it come back on when I press a button?

No, but you can lower your LCD brightness setting to the lowest....
