CF folders n files with card reader/write?

(this is with the canon A70 and a card reader writer)

Does anyone know how the folders work on the CF.

Like the difference between Misc and Dcim?
(misc is always empty for me)

What are the .ctg in the Canonmsc folder?
(i'm guessing settings like protected or rotated?)

Why are there different 1...canon dolfers, and when does it start a new one?
(so i know not to overload a folder with movies incase theres a limit to how much in each folder)

I'm trying to learn how it works so when i get around to putting things back on the card, i know how it works so i wont bugger it up.

For the bit on when the Camera creates a new folder, that is in the Camera Manual, on page 117.
The camera creates new folders before the current directory is full (the usable limit is 2000 images per folder but the camera likes to keep it at 100 images per folder when creating images).

I've noticed that sometimes there is 5 pics, sometimes there is 100. Seemed odd. I'm gonna have a crack at that whole manual next holidays, seems like there some good stuff ive been missing out on. Thanks one again stopbath
