Hi there,
I am having trouble getting my canon 100mm macro, however I can get one next week to ten days, however I was wondering if i can use the 17-40 f/4 L USM on a limited basis this weekend for macro(flowers mainly).

Hi Darren, You could try, but generally the image should be taken from closer to your subject than you can get with any non macro lens to get the magnification needed to be called macro. Now, if you had a set of extension tubes or a close up filter on your lens it would be a different story. ;)

Ballen is correct, but go ahead and shoot as close as you are able to focus. You can always crop the photos later, especially when it helps improve composition. :)
