Is it worth it? The 10D and EF lenses are hardly
water proof. Perhaps some one has devised a 'housing'
for the 10D.?

Took this pic in real bad conditions - under a brolly.!

No, unless you are a war correspondent.

For point and shoot cameras, there are waterproof boxes.
So here is a chance to makey money. Waterproof boxes for 10D.

Does that thing still allow the autofocus to work? Is that a dumb question?

One gallon Zip lock bags work pretty good too...I always carry 2 or 3.

Sorry, American lingo...Plastic bags with a plastic "zipper" that seals them, made by Glad or Ziplock here. The Gallon (4 Liter?) bags are ususally thicker than standard bags (or you can get "freezer" specific bags that are a lot thicker).

Anyway, I place the bag over the camera with the lens barrel sticking out of the opening & use the "zipper" to close the end of the bag around the lens. All the controls are easily accessed through the plastic but you'll need to rely on the autofocus slightly more than normal due to the plastic distorting the viewfinder slightly. But what the heck, they are cheap so you can cut out a hole for the viewfinder if you want. And I wouldn't leave the camera in the bag for an all day shoot either...condensation can build up quickly.

I keep a box of the bags in my car along with a roll of duct tape too (you can wrap layered duct tape around one of your tripod/minipod legs & have it with you all the time in the field).

There is nothing to stop autofocus from working, as long as the front of the lens is sticking out the front.

Some cameras have AF assist lights that would be blocked by this, and I am sure the DOF preview button would be blocked by it.

Try looking at http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk they provide a wide range of waterproofing for cameras.

scottbergerphoto,

Thanks for the link, I think I will get me one. I also found this which I really need badly, tired of kneeling on my photo vest.

Ground Cover Cloth (http://porterscamerastore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=15-0148&Category_Code=C2D)

NiL,

Glad to be of assistance! With regards to the cover cloth, consider always carrying a Lawn and Leaf garbage bag with you (thicker then regular kitchen bags). You can kneel on it, throw your stuff into it if it pours, and best of all you can toss it after you use it.
