Perspective of this shot is not appealing to me at all.

Do you still have this image in color? The blue sky might provide the necessary contrast needed here. I'd like to see that or else I'd perhaps like to see the sky darkened without the cloud.

I agree with henkbos that the angle of view is poorly chosen. This photo of the statue would be much better without such a close to the feet shot. Move back and reshoot.

This is not a flattering image of a sombre subject.

Looks majestic, poweful, gothic. Even the clouds contribute to the barren strong look this image has.
Love it.

Thank you for your comments!

I find it interesting that two of the comments didn't care for the perspective. Exactly what is it that isn't appealing. Too sharp of an angle? The fact the angle enhances the statues breasts (which wasn't the intention by the way)? Virtually all of the photo's I have seen of the statue are taken when you first get to the top of the steps, so it is more head-on. I was looking to do something a bit different. I got as close as I could to the base (it is encircled by a small pool), but perhaps just a few feet back? Don't know - I will have to give it a try.

Thanks also for the suggestion on darkening the sky for more contrast - I think that would work. I have also played around with the idea of changing the sky completely (storm clouds, a transparent montage of war scenes, etc), but I'm not quite that good with PS yet!

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment!

I love this pic. The angle makes me giggle something crazy. It's like she's shocked that she's just caught you looking up her dress. lol

I'm not fond of the sky though.

The reason I'm not fond of this photo was that the angle of view is too low. It give the bowed head of the statue a suprised look, and the breasts become too prominant. I just feel it is unsuitable for a statue of this nature.

I understand the need to get a 'different angle' and a statue that perhaps has been shot many many times before, but perhaps use of dramatic lighting or weather could be utilized to better effect?
