Hello. I'm a newbie here and this is my first post! I have a SD450 and currently have my resolution setting @ M2 and compression setting at Fine. On screen in Windows Explorer's filmstrip mode, my dig photos look normal height-wise, in that nothing is truncated/cut-off in my image on screen. However, after now having 2 sets of multiple prints 'developed' by two locations, both sets of printed prints have come back and the height of my pics have been reduced which is causing loved ones' heads to be cut-off at the top of my pics. My question is why is this occurring?...does it have to do likely with either my resolution setting and/or my compression setting? Thanks very much...diggy12

Maybe try viewing them in an image viewer/editor, then test with your own printer. There is a good free viewer/editor here http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm .
Measure the size of the prints from the shop, and test your pics with the crop board, there is a list of ratios and sizes.

This si because pictures taken by most digital cameras don't have the same aspect ratio as the prints. For example, a picture from the camera might be 1600x1200 while a print is often 4"x6" hence the ratio (long side)/(short side) isn't the same and to get a print they crop your picture. (RATIOS 1.33 cam 1.5 print). To get rid of this problem you should crop your picture yourself with an aspect ration of 1.5 or add some kind of border on the sides of your pics. These are my suggestions but maybe some people have others. You could also find a place that prints pictures with a 1.3 aspect ration (I've seen a place a while ago but I think it's quite rare)

Here is an illustration of that:) and unless you take extremely good pictures printing straight from the camera isn't a good option.
