I'm quite happy with the hour and a half I spent early this morning. Got quite a few keepers (the % seems to be getting higher thankfully). Here are a few shots to summarise my day.....

1. Purple Swamp Hen

4. The same Swallow when he finally came to rest (for about a minute - they rarely seem to land)

Looks like time well spent. The swamp hen slays me the way they can walk on the reeds. #4 is very nice the light really brings out the irredescence of the swallow's feathers and I like how it turned its head toward you.

Doing very well with your series of birds and these are no exception. I really like the swallow in-flight as they are very fast flitting in different directions.

What a wonderful 90 minutes worth.

Did you have the TC on?

Yes I did.

I'm contemplating getting a 100-400 lens to try and help get sharper shots. On the pics today I've been gentle on the post-processing sharpening, but all my pics with this combo of lenses seem to benefit by quite a bit of sharpening. It has been suggested to me that the tc could be part of the problem.

Mind you, I'm still pretty happy with how todays pics have turned out regardless.

That first one is just great. It is amazing how the purple swamp hen walks on all those reeds with such ease.

Love all the photos. I'm glad you added captions cuz I wouldn't had a clue what the birds were thanks.

Percentage of Keepers! 100% by the look of this excellent day out.
Jealous of your light as Phreddie has commented elsewhere - we still are having to use flash in May in the UK and it is raining 30th at 4.5 weather - typical of this spring outside as I type!
