Bought one of these yesterday after reading reviews. Seemed like a great way to check critical focus in the field and empty CF cards. However in practice the screen whilst superb indoors is virtually useless outdoors due to its highly reflective quality - all you really see is yourself or the clouds unless you huddle up under a coat or something. Added to that two hot pixels constantly on view were irritating so got a refund today. No doubt a great tool for some people but for field work I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Don't say that. I still need one. :)
Actually, I have not seen an LCD that works well in bright sunlight. Just put a hat over it and look under. It's what I do. I can't see a think on my 20D or 10D when I'm shooting outdoors in the sunlight. But the large screen on the p2000 is nice, isn't it?

Good that you are happily using yours but I found it really difficult to view images outdoors whatever I did. Maybe the hot pixels were the killer - at 330 pounds you dont expect that.

Can you see enough detail in the P2000 to accurately tell whether you've nailed focus?

indoors -a big YES, the quality of the 3.8" screen is amazing. Outdoors you wont see much. It also plays MP 3 and video.

I find the screen is too sharp and when I get the images on the PC I'm disappointed! Outside in bright light, it is a real pain that you can't see the screen but it's still a fabulous machine.
