dropped it from about 4 feet onto carpeted floor...card compartment door latch broke, so it won't stay shut and the mode dial didn't work anymore.
I found several people with s400 and s500 saying similar problem with the mode dial.
I took the back cover off (remove screws and pull off...easy). finally saw the problem:
1) remove back cover
2) look at the inside of the cover at the back of the mode dial.
3) there are contacts that are no longer making contact :)
4) the three contacts "pivot" up when you press the "tabbed" side (when you see it, this will make sense)...just push it enough to get the contacts to stand up a bit more
5) put it back together.
Now: does anyone know a cheap place to get a replacement cf card door?
