View Full Version : Is anyone using Linear mode with their 10D?

Cruising around on Fred Miranda's site I came across his 10D linear RAW conversion action. The last time I looked into Linear conversion I was left with the impression that the linear extraction method supplied by Canon was flawed.

Has this changed? Is anyone here using either Fred's action or other actions to process their 10D RAW shots using the linear method?

Just curious. I don't even remember a linear extraction option in C1, I guess I'll have to look again...?

There isn't one. You have to use BB or FVU. The linear conversion in BB/FVU was bust. Some people (including Fred M) seem to think it's working OK now, but I've seen nothing definitive. Chris Breeze posted this morning that he has not checked it with the latest SDK.

I just downloaded BreezeBrowser v2.7c with support for the new Canon EOS 300D/Digital Rebel/Kiss Digital. The linear 10D conversion is truly 16bit there.

Now - how do I get the FVU to work as well? I can't see any updated FVU downloadable anywhere, or ??

Magne,

I haven't seen one yet beyond 1.2.2.

What's the current state of play with your 10D profiles?

The FVU supplied with the 300D is probably newer, but not publicly download-able yet.

The profiles will start shipping this coming weekend, at least for the C1 replacement profiles for D30, D60 and 10D. If what I've seen so far is correct on the 300D, it looks extremely identical to the 10D and might not demand any special profiles.

The Breezebrowser support for 10D linear means I've also finalized that Linear profile set as well. I'll still do a few more rounds with the beta teams on the FVU/RIC/Y+/BB JPG-profiles...

Hi Magne. Where will we be able to find the C1 profiles? I've heard about your work and am looking forward to using your 10D profile. Thanks,

Hi Mitch;
They will become available at the http://www.etcetera.cc web site, together with articles of interest about Color Management and some dedicated forums to aid in understanding, using and applying ICM profiles.
If you drop a mail to info@etcetera.cc (mailto:info@etcetera.cc) stating your interest you will be reminded by mail when the site opens up...
