Odd looking pigeon

took this a fer weeks ago what kind of Pigeon is it?:D

It's a nice looking bird, but not in either the European or North American bird ID books.

I suspect it's one of the many (hundreds?) of 'fancy pigeons' kept as show birds by 'pigeon fanciers' and escaped from its loft, or it could be an Asian species.

Don't know what type it is but it is unique looking. Was this shot in the wild and was there more than one of them around?
