wondering if any of you have used fireworks with g1 photos or know of any advantages/ disadvantages when compared with photoshop?

ya, photoshop is for raster images and print.

Fireworks is for web and vector graphics.

In other words, if you are interested in manipulating your photographs, use photoshop.
