I usually only post images here when I am unsure about them. This one is no exception! The photo has had very little work done to it. Some sharpening and level adjustments. This is all natural day light. There was a bright red building opposite that was being hit by the sun and creating a red glow on the building walls. It was quite cool. Anyway please tell me if you like this. And if not why?

Regards
Martin.

Hi Martin.

I like it. The colours, shapes and lines create a really interesting effect and I just found it pleasing to look at. The framing is good too.

Cheers,
Suzie.

Your photo has some great lines and detail. I like it for it's abstract. I think it may be a touch dark as I would like to see the detail on the left side of the photo better and the frame draws my eyes away from the image.
IMO, either lose the frame or just make a thin border around it. This is waaay too much frame.

Ohhh, I really like that one [I'm a sucker for photos of buildings]. The colors are beautiful. Maybe it's a monitor setting, but, I see the detail on the left just fine.

Nicely done.

Yep I think the frame was a bit of a brainstorm! lol Thanks for commenting.

Martin.

Very nice Martin. Love the colors and the vertical lines - ditto the other comments on the frame (all the lines in the pic are thin, I think the frame should be too). Is it just me or are the lines a bit slanted to the left? In any case, beautiful shot!

Terrific photo. Love it.

Only suggestion would be to make the frame half the width. Picky I know, but that is the best I can do. ;)

Cheers

Thanks KJM! I've already given the photo a more suitable frame, though I don't know if there is much point to posting it here now? Also I checked the lines and they are straight up and down, no slant. Check the legs on your desk with a spirit level! lol

best Regards
Martin.

Martin,

I would add the newly framed image to this thread. That way we can see if we were right or not. ;)

I like that lot better. :D

But I bet someone will come along and say the frame is too narrow now ;)

Yes probably!

I think images are so much more enhanced when presented in a frame.

Thanks for the comments Ian.

...and that would be me. i think that a bigger frame is an important part of enhancing this photo, just not as thick as the first one. go for it martin!

Martin, thanks for the photo with the new frame. you know, i think that that great big thick fat frame was really o.k. with that photo; i liked it! what do you think, as the photographer of that photo?

Thanks for asking me. Well, as you can guess the 'great big thick fat frame' was not just some random thought of mine when I was framing the shot. I done it for a reason, or two!. One I thought that by framing it with a BIG border this would create a feeling of looking through a window at a photo of windows. Secondly I felt that having a LOT of black around the photo would help to bring attention to the richness of the warm tones. I was actaully a little dismayed when I got negative feedback about my 'great big thick fat frame' at first because I liked it. But then I started to see it as ugly an felt I was probably wrong about it. HOWEVER! Now when I look at all three I can't help but feel the 1st one is the most effective. I'm really glad you seem to agree because I do LOVE my 'great big thick fat frame'!! lol

hooray and a high five to you! :)
Martin.

Yes, yes Martin! I think that you had a well-thought out idea and it too is my favorite of the three! Horray for 'that great big thick fat frame'!

You know, I think I may have to change my initial assesment as well - I think the third one is the best, even with the thicker frame. I think it helps draw you into the picture more. BTW - I checked my desk and it is level. Perhaps it is me that is slanting to one side?!?

I like this one better than the second one, more visually interesting without being too busy.

It has great colours and an interesting pattern, but my eye does not settle anywhere.

I am roaming around looking for a focal point.

Its probably just me, but it is absolutely crying out for a figure leaning out of one of the windows.

Probably facing away from us to make them anonymous.

You could photograph a mate and add them in on your PC.

OK - now everyone tell me im nuts

No Mark, you aren't nuts. But this one has that problem less that RedStreet #2. I do agree with you about the photo needing something more though.
