Here are some EOS 300D pictures taken with the kit lens and the EF 50mm f1.8 lens.

Very nice. You're making me think about the 300D again. With that kind of quality, maybe I could adapt to not using film.

Those pictures are beautiful. They are an inspiration to me. Although I have been a film based photographer for many years I just took the plunge into digital yesterday with the purchase of an EOS Rebel. Not only do I have a LOT to learn about digital work, I also am a little confused by the Canon "conventions" since I have used only Nikon for 35 mm film work in the past (sorry about that).

In any event, I enjoyed your pictures very much. By the way, did you use a tripod or hand hold the camera?

billh101 : Thanks! I made the switch to digital some years back. Was shooting film P&S. This is my first SLR. Also take note that in digital, the photographer becomes the darkroom guy as well. I had too do some image sharpening and contrast adjustments to get them looking good. But the base image is already pretty good.

BruceMcL : Thanks! For these shots no tripod was used. It was a sunny day and as you can see the shutter speed was pretty high. Thereby eliminating any hand shakes.

Welcome to the Rebel club! Like all digital camera, no one camera is perfect. Just need lots of practice to know its percularities and I think you should be able to churn out nice pictures. After all, its using a 10D sensor.

Hi benlimt,

Your pictures make me smile :-)
I really like the objects you have chosen. But how did you manage to let that 'little guy' below pose for you?
Was it a single shot or did you fill up your 300D's buffer?

Keep on shooting...

Believe me, he must've been wondering what the heck I was doing. He actually darted off whenever my flash went off and flew back to look at me. I shot about 8 shots, this was the best one. Had to use manual focus as the camera will try to focus on those bricks in the background. I was really pushing my luck.

Took these photos at a local nature reserve park in the afternoon. Glad you liked them.

Are all the pictures straight out of the camera, except the first one? Or is there a little sharpness added?

Sharpness added. Only the swan2.jpg is the original one. Also did some levels as spruce it up a little.
