View Full Version : Rebel (300d) - any deals in US?

Just wondering if anyone is discounting the Rebel in the US (I kind of doubt it since it's so new and in limited supply)?

Also while I asked this in another thread, I don't see the harm in trying to get answers here...

Is the Rebel's standard EF-S 18-55mm lens a 'true' 18-55mm zoom (based on 35mm standards)? If not, what does it's zoom-range equate to (35mm-wise)?

Also, while I'm pretty sure that my EOS 10s (EF) lenses will work with the Rebel, will the Rebel's EF-S lens mount fit onto my EOS 10s (film) SLR?

I have not seen any discounting yet, but Best Buy has its Rewards program, which will give you a coupon for more stuff at Best Buy (I think you get $40 in 'Best Buy Bucks' for a Digital Rebel purchase).
The lens is an 18-55, but it is designed to cover the size of the sensor in the Digital Rebel, not the size of a 35mm frame (24x36). In addition, it takes advantage of the mirror design of the Digital Rebel, and will not mount on a 'film' EOS body.
There have been hints at more EF-S lenses, but none have been announced yet.
