I've started putting up some macro shots with my new G2. The site also includes explanation of the technique. I reversed a manual focus normal lens in front of the G2.

Hap, cool way to recycle old glass. For under $30 you can get a set of closeup filters from Hoya. http://www.2filter.com/

Yes, I have the Hoya set, but even with all 3 it doesn't have this magnification. Hap

I am not sure how close you can focus with the lens setup you are using, but I have gotten images of salt crystals that are quite magnified with the Hoya set. Are you able to get closer with your reverse 50mm lens than the shots I posted at http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1680 ? The salt images are as close as I can get with my setup.

Paul,
I did more tests this morning and the reversed 55mm is definitely getting me closer than the 3 Hoya close up filters. My best shot is more patriotic than pretty. Pbase was down so I stuck it here:

I followed your lead and cropped to 800x600. Then I saved without compression. ISO 50, f/8, full telephoto. Seems that your crystals are alot more uniform than mine.
