This is my second motorsport event that I've been to with my camera. The first I was stuck on the other side of the fence and got crappy shots. This time I promised myself to get on the track one way or the other. Between two races I gathered all my curage and walk onto the track trying to look like I belong there. It worked...for two races until the head marshall walk over to me and ask me if I had sign a waver to be there. I told him the truth that I had not and gave him as nice a smile ase possible. He just looked at me and told me to go sign one and come back, not get run over and have fun. Here's the result.

Also, the pro photographers on the track were so nice to me. They all introducted themselves and even let me try out some of thier gear. One let me use a 300 2.8L and a other a 1.4x. Was such a fun day.

Nice. I like 4, 7, 8 and 10 (but it is a little dark). Are any of these with the 300? At least you know now...just sign the waiver and out you go right?

#2 & 4 are my favorite of the batch you posted.

I like the angle and action of 2. The candidness of 4 shows how quickly a good day can turn bad.

Thanks everyone.

Zed, None of those shots are with the 300. I'll post one with it later tonight.

BigTuffGuy, It was shot at the St-Hilaire track. exit 115 on the 20. It's a great looking track.

Nope, it's passed Montreal on the way to Quebec. Here's a link to the website.

Ok, here's a comparison with my 70-200L f/4 with a 1.4x and the 300. These shots are straight from the camera untouched.

The 300 with the extra stop sure makes for a nicer blured and compressed background. But both combinations make nice results. Since I have a limited budget I'll be getting a 1.4x very soon.
