i just got my canon sd600 this week, and i've found that i need to change the battery about every 15 - 25 pics, or every 2 videos.....

is anyone else having this issue? is it normal? i'd hate to have to send the camera back, but the battery drainage seems so unlikey, my 5 year old kodak didn't have such high battery usage!!

That seems excessive. There has got to be something wrong. Either the batteries or the camera. Try some good rechargables.

yea it takes a battery which came with the camera, not just everyday AA's or something, i even bought an extra one cause thats always a handy thing to have, but it eats that one up to... i think it's the camer because the chances of me getting 2 dud battries are very slim i'd imagine.....

**sigh** looks like canon is getting a call from me tomorrow

Bought my daughter the same camera about 1 month ago...........she loves it.
She has taken about 1500 pics so far. On the first charge;she was able to take 465 pics and( 4) 30 second videos. She did NOT have the LCD screen on when taking pictures.
This will use up the small battery at an incrediable rate. This is the price you pay when you want a small and slim compact camera.
I can say that both the pictures and videos are Awesome.I was really impress how well the videos look.

I have the same issue. I purchased an SD600 1 month ago with an additional battery. Both batteries only last 15 pictures or 1 hour of use. I'm using the LCD screen however I have the display off set to 10 seconds.

Sorry to hear about your battery problem.

I bought the SD600 in April and have used it extensively. The camera has been able to shoot over 450 photos (minimal flash used) and several short movies on one charge over a day's outing. In fact, I haven't run the battery to empty yet. I did reduce the brightness of the LCD to try to extend battery life because I had read comments about low battery life.

Maybe you need to cycle the battery a few times before it can retain a larger charge. (run the battery low and charge it fully)

Sounds like something's wrong with the battery. I'd seriously look into getting some Sterlingtek 900mAh batteries (http://www.sterlingtek.com/twocanb900ma.html). I use 'em in my SD630 and get at least 150 shots per recharge. I paid $30 shipped for two of them.

You should be geting at least 150 shots per charge. The battery that came with my sd630 gave good results, however I bought another third party battery and after the initial charge of 8 hours i went to use it and it quit after a few shots. I read on the battery instructions you might have to charge it a few times to bring it up to peak. I did and now I only have to charge it for 90 mins, and I can shoot I guess about 160 shots. Try charging it again.
