Title: Kilgore Falls
Camera: S2IS

f/8

Great timing because I just went out this past weekend and took a series of waterfall pictures. Kilgore Falls is about 25-30 feet and is located in Northern Harford County, Md. Very close to Pa. The other name of this waterfall is Falling Branch. The picture makes that name clear.

comment: I took this on April 2 of this year here on Nova Scotia's south shore. The sun was glaring off the water so I turned down the exposure compensation which made the picture too dark. I fixed the colours, levels and straightened the horizon in Photoshop.

sorry for the uninspired shot - we're in the midst of a dry spell here, and running water has sort of dried up.

I actually took this pic today, as of May 31, 2006. This is at the Redondo Beach shorline in Los Angeles, CA. It may look peaceful, but my nose started to run because of the intense cold wind that was blasting around. Hope you all like it:)

Original picture was quite unsaturated, I added some color to the water. PP also includes curves and sharpening (and resizing).

A610

Taken at Lancaster PA during my trip this weekend. Foutain located in the the city. Also my first time playing with doing the "flowing" water effect by slowing the shutter speed. Used a Circular Polarizer to help slow the shutter speed.

PP: Played with the saturation to isolate the water color. Brightness & contrass then USM

Yes, time ran out many hours ago. I guess the judge is too busy judging to announce the close ;)

Well, the time is over. Congratulations to everybody because all pictures show an instant in our lives and in this ocassion all you brought beaty images.
Really is very difficult to select the winners, but they are:

1. Edd S: Serenity - This picture is amazing, it shows how the water is "alive". The colors and light are amazing. Congratulations Edd S.

2. dyle: Magic Fountain - Another excellent picture. dyle, you did a beatiful work getting the color isolation and the flowing water.

3. Novahearth: Wind and waves - This photo is great. It represents the water strength. Nice work Novaheart.

Thanks to all, I hope you enjoyed this challenge. And we're waiting for the next.
Ronald.

Well done to the top three, and to everybody else! I thought the standard in this week's challenge was particularly high. We often joke about how we're glad we didn't have to judge a particular challenge -- but, in this case, it's really true. ;)

Thanks for the top three choice! There were a lot of beautiful photographs in this contest so it is completely unexpected! My favs are Edd S's, snowrdr's, and Jeece's. Again, awesome pics from everybody. Looking forward to the next one :)

Congratulations to all the winners. I thought there were a number of very good photos this time and it would have been hard for me too. Dyle - nice find. Since I am less than an hour away from the center of Lancaster, I am going to make it a point to go there one day to shoot that. Where in Lancaster was it? Edd - great shot. Another example of how slr's have not cornered the market on great images. Oh yeah, you had something to do with it too :). Nova - I liked yours too. I have spent time waiting for crashing wave shots and it can get a bit tedious.

I don't have the exact address but I wanna say that it is about a block down the road from the Lancaster Central Market, on W King St. It has a statue of a man sitting on a bench reading the paper that you can see when you drive by.

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence (and the top three vote). Once again, I am most honored and humbled. I thought the submissions this week were outstanding. My personal favorites were Novaheart, Shannai, blacvious, MichaelC, Snowrdr, and Jeece.

Some of these photos are simply amazing. I think it goes to show that it's not as much as the camera as it is the person behind the camera. Great job all!

The next contest topic will be anounced soon.

Wow! 3rd place! Not too shabby for my first competition entry :D Thank you rpicado! I knew the subject of the photo was impressive, but I wasn't sure if the picture quality was there since I had to brighten it a lot in Photoshop.

Stefan - On that day I had didn't have to wait very long to get shots of waves :)
