Found another baby bush cricket- though it was a giant aphid when I first saw it :). About 5mm body length.

ISO 200 - ah thats your secret! Something tells me you are pleased with the new lens.
I've been using ISO 200 F11 1/200th for a while now- nearly gives correct exposure in reasonable sunlight so the flash acts as fill (at least at 1:1- 2:1)
Yes you are right about the lens, thanks for giving me the final push :D , really enjoying it apart from the cloning to get rid of dust spots. Not good for skittery bugs though ;)

You're welcome! the depth is really good for such a small subject. I have some practice looking at those hidded 3d stereograms.

I think the sight of my macro rig just terrorises them :)

Been fairly chilly here which always helps- I just watch them through the lens and if they stay still they get hit with 2 to 4 quick shots. They don't always stay still but you don't see those shots :) or at least you just get a shallow DOF shot.
