More from our front yard tenants. This fellow perched while I took a dozen shots. Not enough DoF, but I like the detail.

Here's a 100% crop to show feather detail.

I like the cropped version better Tupe, maybe tone down the highlights a bit; it seems too bright on my monitor. You're right it is very sharp, nice shot.

This one is much better than the one at the bird house. I think the DoF is good enough. The fill flash definitely helped. Love how the bg is separated from the subject. The snack is definitely a bonus.

Thanks, Paul and Fee. I'm still learning how to use fill flash without getting slow shutter speeds and lots of blur.

This little guy just stopped there for almost a minute - dunno if the flash stunned him or what.

Joe, u did the right thing by cranking up the ISO. In dim light situation it is hard to get fast enough shutter speed handheld even with flash. What would help is a tripod or monopod. When you use a tripod, it's much more forgiving when slow shutter speed is used. That way you don't have to back out your lens to below 200mm to avoid blur.:)

Nice shot. I like the crop even more, really brings out the detail in the bird.
