Hi all,
I was hoping I could get some advice on this matter.
I am an amateur photographer with a Canon EOS350D, looking for a nice zoom for nature photography. I can barely afford the Ef 100-400/4,5-5,6L Is Usm lens, but from what I've read here it's worth its price.
The question is, however, will it be a waste of money using such a nice lens on such an average camera as the 350D? It is not likely that I will buy a new camera anytime soon, but I would like a nice zoom.
Thanks for any input,
toffe

I've got a 350D and 100-400, I wouldn't say it was average at all :p

I think you're severely underestimating the 350D ;)
yes it's no 1 series or 5D but it can still provide professional quality images up there with Canon's other 1.6x crop bodies, the 350D and 100-400 would compliment each other well, you certainly won't be disappointed :)

I also have a 350d and have the 100-400 on my short list. It gets great reviews. It won't dissapoint.

Thanks, everyone!
I guess I'll be buying myself a new zoom soon, then :)

I have both and primarily use the 100-400L on the 350D. I keep the 24-105L on the 20D. I like the lighter body with the heavier lens. I have had no problems. You can see some of the pics at stan43.smugmug.com. I think you would be very pleased with this combination.

The 350D is a great camera body make no mistake. I had a dilema about whether to chose this or the 20D. I think I made the right decision. The 100-400 certainly won't be wasted on the 350D, but have you thought about the prime 400 f5.6...A couple of examples here, both taken hand-held. It's a great lens for flight shots.

Certainly a very good combination and not let down by the 350D at all.
See the link below in lens samples section...
