I just got my 70-200mm F2.8L and am trying to find where to register it on line. Nothing was on warranty card and I searched Canon sites for lens warranty registration but could not find. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

I don't think there are provisions on Canon's site to register a lens. I went thru the same thing when I got my XT and 70-200 f4L. It registered the camera body, but I don't think they register the lens online.

To service my lens, I had to go to a site to get the work ordered, that's when I registered.

i got 2 new L lenses 3 weeks ago.
neither had a waranty card in the box.
both were from different retailers.
i asked one of the shops about it. he wasnt 100% sure. but seemed to think that your receipt acts as the waranty, hence the reason for no waranty card.
this is in the uk

I wrote to canon about this :
"Thank you for contacting Canon product support. We value you as a Canon
customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

You are not required to register the EF lenses for warranty or technical
support purposes. Please keep the warranty card and your bill of sale
in a secure location. In the unlikely event that the lens requires
service within the warranty period, we would ask that you include copies
of this documentation with the unit at the time of repair."

Must have all cards and receipts in a safe place or keep a soft copy on your computer.
