Since I'm getting a new 350d for my birthday next month, I thought I'd take the chance to find a fun forum and introduce myself.

I've been an amature photographer for quite a while. I first got the bug when I was around 13 and my sisters were competing in gymnastics. My parents got me a Canon Rebel and a stock lens and I would take pictures of my sisters at their competitions. Later, when they started competitive cheerleading, I got a nice bright Tokina 70-200 2.8 and kept going.

In college it wasn't practical to have a huge SLR at parties, so I had a APS compact for a while, then got a sony digital ultra-compact thing and kicked around with that for quite a while. I've taken over 3000 pictures with that little thing.

Recently, my wife and I got a border collie and I got back into taking pictures more seriously. I dusted off the old Canon Rebel and lenses, bought a 50mm 1.8 prime and have messed around the past couple of months, seeing if I can actually warrant the price of a digital SLR. Well, I finally convinced my wife I would use it and now I can stop paying 50 cents per click and really get more serious with photography.

I've setup a photo gallery on my website using Gallery2 and embeded it into my wordpress blog. I created an album of my current favorites and put it here:

http://www.vinceanido.com/blog/v/Favorites/

It's a small selection of some pictures I've taken over the past couple of years, the majority were taken with my SLR, but there are a couple from my little sony p9 and my wife's miniature finepix z2.

I've been messing with the options that are available to the user and am going to write a 'How-To' use the gallery for 1st timers because Gallery2 doesn't make it easy to customize what's shown in the detailed vs summary view.

Anyways, please let me know what you all think of the gallery and my photos. I'm really looking forward to any thing you all have to say.

Yeah, Sadie is our first border collie and we have been amazed with everything she can already do. She's hands down the smartest dog I've ever seen (not that I'm biased at all. :) )

I've had a lot of fun at the beach lately, since the weather has been so good - but I've gotten the best pics on days when it's been crappy. It's funny how much more character pictures have when clouds are around.

I'm really excited about the new camera, I get to order it next week. I'm probably going to go with BH Photo Video, anyone know someone better?
