I'm a new S3 owner, amazing there are so little post here.
In other forums I have read some S3 users are adjusting contrast and sharpness settings, I cant find anywhere in my S3 camera's menu to do this. Am I missing something?

lucky, are you on auto mode or something like that ?

on my s2, i think contrast and such things are available on P mode, for instance....

And, the s3 and s2 are quite similar... One feature i really like about the s3, is the "live" histogram, pretty cool.... Also, i think the OSD is also better, taking the a610 -> a620 evolution as reference....

I've considered getting an s3, but that extra megapixel of res, does not justify the price here (consider that I live in Argentina). If the camera where a 7+ mp one, i'd reaaaallllyyy consider it...

to adjust the contrast, saturation and sharpness ( at least with the s2) you need to go the the menu where vivid, nutrual, sharpness, b/w and sepia are--there should be a custom feature and that is where you will find the contrast, sharpness and saturation.

I'm new to the list and a new S3 owner (a few weeks now). So far it's great. I see postings about the grain in the high ISO pics. I just today figured out that shooting in auto in low light was doing this.
I'm trying to learn all the focus options. I find manual focus very cumbersome but useful. With the various auto-focus options, I'd like to see what distance it is set at. I've been able to see it by using AFL, setting the focus then pressing manual but that's very messy. Any suggestions ?
Also, I'd love to see what distance the focus was set at when I'm reviewing pics but do not see it in the properties in ZoomBrowser or any other software. Any clues?
Thanks

All manual settings can be accomplished by the FUNC button in the non-preset modes. The manual (and the electronic site at Canon) does a good job in explaining all the settings. With so many guides available, should we be dealing with these questions here?

Why not? I thought that this is what this forum is about. I have my S2IS for over a year and I am still learning.

Yes, we should. manuals aren't always obvious to everyone.
