Yes!! Finally I've bought a DSLR (the Digital Rebel) and tomorrow it'll be in my hands :)
Of course my everyday camera will continue to be the S50, but I'm retiring and selling the EOS 5 and all my film lab equipment, for all the serious use.
Wish me luck !! (despite the fact I still didn't read any horror stories about the 300D yet)
Of course I'm changing my signature :)

Your pictures are beautiful!

Thanks Thin. They are mostly the result of my first 3 months with the S50, and some older ones taken with the EOS 5 and digitally developed or from my old digicam in the first weeks after purchase (the dreaded Sony P1) because the EOS 5 was used somewhere.
Expect some Digital Rebel images very soon!!!

Now I know what Argentine's flag looks like.

Very nice pictures. With 300D you can now take pics inside the church.

Light
I took pictures inside the church (a cathedral in fact) with the S50 without problems. They are in the same gallery. In fact I didn't even need to increase the camera sensitivity from ISO 50.
To be honest, the two things I was unable to do with the S50 were: using really long tele lenses and really long exposures (over 15 secs), and there is a few things in which the S50 takes the lead (as second courtain flash sync or fully selectable AE modes). Of course, forget about low light AF in tele and low noise images at moderate ISO settings with the S50 :)
And I really missed the IS (I already have a 28-135 IS and a 75-300 IS) in low light situations.

Guillermo, I really like the medieval style arches inside the church. Excellent shooting.

I only saw them in Europe. I have not seen one in the US. Maybe there are some.

Guillermo, I too enjoyed your gallery. However, I would have liked to have the shots identified insofar as which were in fact taken with the S50 (and any filters/conversion lenses that may have been used, if any).

In any case, your gallery is a testimonial as to what can be accomplished with a quality 'point & shoot' camera!

Welcome to the money pit Gullermo ! :D

Thanks everybody :)

CDS:
I already have the lenses from the EOS 5, so I expect to be quiet for a while (perhaps a 50/1.8 to have a very fast lens)

pvsurfer:
If you check the bottom of the pictures, all the shooting parameters are included, also the camera and lens used

I already have the Rebel, and for now I've mostly run a series of AF and speed comparisons between it and the EOS 5 with all the lenses (yes, I've tried to mount the 18-55 in the EOS 5, it doesn't fit:) ). It seems to be very close to the 5 in AF speed and shutter lag, but in very low light the infrared AF assist of the 5 has the lead, and I must remember not to try to choose the focus point only looking at it :)

I never had a focusing problem with either of my 10D's, but did notice a strange sucking noise every time I used them. Finally figured out it was my wallet trying to implode.

I think Formula 1 racing might be a cheaper hobby.

Thos.

More results in the Digital Rebel vs EOS 5 AF speed.
The Rebel is faster than the 5, and the assist lamp (or flash assist in the Rebel) fires in the same situations, but the infrared assist light seems to be a little more effective. Also the infrared assist is less intrusive and activates when needed without any human action involved. So probably the AF contest is a tie.

Also, I've read everywhere the Rebel is unable to use the flash only as assist light, because the lack to custom functions to disable the flash firing during the take.
That's not true. If you opens the flash, focus (using it as an assist) and then closes it before the actual firing, the camera recalulates the exposure without flash and you can take the picture with ambient light only. It works in Creative modes, I don't know if it also works in Scene modes (never used them). All of you 10D owner can test if it have the same behavior, because it seems to me more practical to close the flash or not, than navigate thru custom functions every time it's needed to change flash firing.

Neat! I'll have to try it sometime. That's my take; there are supposedly things the camera can't do, but I've found workarounds for all of them so far.

Today tried the Rebel in real situations. I even used the "open flash as assist and then close it" trick in the first picture. The first one is taken with the kit, the second one with a 75-300 IS
