I received the 5D last week, and finally got a chance to go out to try the MP-E65 with the 5D. Here are a couple of pics of the same jumper I saw:

Love the glamour palps - is he of to the glam rock night at the pub?

Great shots, how big is he?

Thanks. I think this guy is about 7 to 8mm from head to tail. It's rather large. I believe I used 4x magnification on these shots. I would have obtained bigger images if I had used a cropped camera (i.e., 30D).

Thanks again! :)

:D :D Yea, I love this combination. I had a 5D before, but sold it because everything taken with the 100mm macro lens was so small on its full frame sensor.

Thanks for your kind words ;) And, I love the fangs too. They are very colorful:)

Wonderful shots Leorooster - 5D working well with the MPE-65 :)
This is what I call a Max Factor jumper- looks as if it's gone OTT with the makeup :)

Great shots, jumpers here never quite that glamorous though some have coloured palps. They are used to attract females I have read.
If you can find a subject to fill the 5D sensor, ie no cropping, I would love to see the level of detail displayed.

Thanks, Racketman. These two images are in fact full frame (i.e., no cropping). However, some details have been lost due to post processing. With my 580EX on the 5D, I basically don't have enough light when it gets to 3x and above. I had to adjust the levels in PS. It could have been better if I had shot raws. Unfortunately, I forgot to set it to raw, and jpg is the default setting of the 5D  . Long story short, I need to get a ring flash or twin lite  . I will post some more images later when I have more time :)

:D :D Thanks for your kind comments. This little guy (or big guy in the jumper world) is very cooperative when point the camera at him ;)

Wow! Both are great but the first one is absolutely wonderful! I LOVE the soft pink bg and how it contrasts with that beast! The fangs are something else:shock: , are they dripping in the second pic?

Lovely superb shots Leo. I'm glad the 5D is working for you! The last shot is hilarious, looks like he's saluting you. I've never seen a jumper so colourful, hope to spot one soon. Very very sharp shots.

It's a good combo, both the lens and the camera are very very good. I'm glad you're enjoying it, that's what photography should be about!

Incredible shots. Such nice contrasting colours. I think people would be keeping these spiders as pets if they would be as big as they look in your fotos. Luckily for them they are very small and only interesting to Macro shooters.

Thanks! Believe it or not, people in Asia actually keep them as pets........well not exactly as pets, but they use them to fight each other as entertainment.
