Decided that tiny jumping spider needed feeding up so I found it a greenfly :)
Not suprisingly the aphid is letting off alarm pheromone from one of it's twin exhaust pipes.

Thanks Gordon.
No I just brushed off a few that were on a weed stem within a couple of cms of the spider. The spider looked totally confused at first but eventually got the idea and went after one of them. It was still eating it an hour later :)

You can carry them by their antennae. I presented one to a ladybird larva but it was totally uninterested- so much for their ferocious reputation. That second shot is a real winner. Dont forget the BBC macro photo competition - needs to be a 10x8 print.

Well done Brian - I find it always amazing to see a Jumping spider capture its prey - they are such excellent hunters. I'm yet to capture one myself in the process, but watching others images helps :)

Great action shot. Do they get distracted when eating?

Thanks Lester :)
As with most bugs, if they are concentrating on doing something they seem much more approachable if that's what you mean.
