S2 Macro mode

Hi,
I want to buy a digital camera for amateur macro photos (mostly jewelry), which will also be of use for family photos, trips, etc.
I`m considering either Canon A610 or Canon S2.
I`ve been told the S2 has 0 cm macro range on auto mode, but only 10 cm on other modes, while the A610 has 1 cm macro focus range on all modes.
What`s the difference???

No difference at all. I suppose you wouldn't want the diamond ring touching your lens at 0 cm, would you? I'd say go with the A610.

Go to the sticky at the top of the small camera forum and click on contests. Click on the macro contest and see which camera each shot was taken.
