It would be nice if we could unsubscribe from this forum. It seems that once you put in a user name, you can not ever remove it. Could someone help out with this? No answer from administrator. Reason I want to do it is I have received a blizzard of virus messages since joining... PS: email for me is now bogus. Thanks, J

I've never gotten an email from this site, and the email addy I use is an alias for specific sites only because I don't want to use my private email or my spam address.

No, I'm not sure. Just never got any viruses at that email address until I subscribed. Odd things do happen.
I do find it unusual that there is no way to unsubscribe from this forum or change my user name. Doesn't that seem odd to anyone?
Thanks, J

I've never gotten ANYTHING from this site.
Oh yeah, I'm signed on like 10 other forums, I don't think any of them allow you to unregister. You just have to mail the owner.

I've got tons of viruses also, but only since last week. You've probably left your e-mailaddress on usenet, because that's where they get their victims. I made the same mistake .........

How can u be sure its this website?
Use a hotmail one for sites, thats what i do.
And how can they send you virsus's if you never open there emails? Just open the ones you know and delete the rest.

How about editing your profile and changing your email address to a nonsense one? Such as, unsubscribe@thisforum.com.

Wh not just change the email, no biggy?
Just a lost username, and u wouldn't want anyone comming back on as ur name cause no one would know who was who.
Change the email and no one will ever contact you about this forum what so ever.

Would it be too wicked to suggest changing it to admins email? Yeah - guess it would - but it should get you removed!

If u removed ur name 'stduc ', someone comes alng next week and signs up as 'stduc', how would we know who it really was?
I like the idea of the admin email to, if only there was a way to do that to the spammers of the world.

You've probably hit the nail on the head as to the reason why you can't be deleted. So a nonsense email address is probably best - along the lines of nonone@nowhere.com - or simlar. As for spammers - I wish!

I think there needs to be a spammer spammer, when u get spam, u add there email tot he list and then u start spamming them with all the other spam that u get lol.

I take it you are very new to the internet.
Firstly, if you are getting viruses they are mostly likely to be coming from a pc-illiterate friend or aquaintance who has you listed in their address book on a system infected with a virus. That's how viruses, or more properly called a worm, spread themselves.
If you want to know where the emails came from then look at the headers rather than than throw accusations around without bothering to check first. Most viruses spoof the From address so you'l l have to look beyond that.
Secondly, as someone who also runs a large message board, don't you think it would be nice to express just a little more gratitude to the person who runs this board for your free entertainment?
And thirdly, why do you think he has time to teach you for free the basics of the internet or waste his time unsubscribing you? There are plenty of places to explain to you about viruses. Why does anyone offer these free boards when there is so much ingratitude around. Beats me.

Not everyone knows about spoofing, and how to use the dns to find where it really came from, itsn't exactly what ever internet user knows.
Old reason i know is cause i did a bit of networking at uni.
But i figure if you don't except emails from people u don't know u'll be right, but if someone sends it from there adress, who has the time to continually keep chicking the IP of where it came from.
why do hackers have to make the internet so unsafe. who gets the joy in thinking somewhere out there, a computer isn't working.
