Wonder what I should do. I have my fiance taking my non IS 70-200 back right now. I was then going to wait for my IS for less money. I went to the website to check my order again and it wont pull it up anymore. Wonder what is going on? Will they ship a bunch of the inccorrect lenses or will they send emails to tell us what has gone on. Or will they call canon and order the correct lense and take the hit?

well i know it's only a rumor, but it makes me feel better.
I'd just bought the non-IS version for $30 more than that price. Caled back the dealer to see if they would exchange and match the price and was told that there are no "deals" on Canon lenses that they know of.....

For now it is a rumor. As for what to do,. don't sell your old lenses yet!

If I recieve the non IS version it will be sent back. I have no interest in spending this much on the Non IS version.

p.s. I was told by Dell that I would be recieveing it after October 3rd. (the in stock ones had allready sold)

p.s. again;

Website still lists it as the IS version with Canon's IS part number.

Yep, that would be the way to deal with it. Just send it back. I think this rumor was started by the Sigma crowd just to mess with us for a few days before we get our new lenses! heh

You know what they say about something that sounds too good to be true...Dell has been notorious about making mistakes like this on equipment they are not familiar with.

I knew there wasn't THAT much profit in that lens for them to dump the price $500 cheaper than anyone else. Now that puts their price pretty much in line with what most people are charging. That 10% discount and no shipping STILL makes it a good deal though. Just now, it's no longer the Deal of the Century.

Sure they are. They have 540 orders for this lens. Will be backordered for 6 months or more for some people. We'll see how they get this all straightened out and what actually gets shipped.
