Why using a bean bag or mono pod with the IS on, I notice the focus point moving slightly in the viewfinder. Is this usual for this lens.
I thought it only did this when supported by a tripod or other firm support, with IS enabled.

You will notice the image in the viewfinder move around a little bit. Especially if you're more steady. Your movements are less so you see the lens 'catching up' to your movements which you normally do not see when you're 100% handheld as you're moving more.
Did that make sense? ;)

Yes that makes sense, thanks for that.
If I was using a bean bag would I be better switching the IS off.
I believe the IS will give you two extra stops when hand holding.
Would a bean bag on a solid platform improve on this with the IS off.
