I don't know how many of you out there are nature photographers, and I don't know how many of you sell prints of your best work.
If you were selling a good one, printed at 8x10 and mounted with a mat of 11x14, how big should the label be that says "shot with Canon"?

You as the photgrapher are the artist--not Canon. Not sure why you feel obligated to give them free advertising.

How about a "A Gross Shot"...no wait..that might not sell the print...
...put your name in a scanned signature at the bottom about 1/2inch high

this reminds me of people that plaster their cars with all sort of decals of the stuff they put in them...
i know some do get sponsor money, but some are just silly... ;)

Normally, on the photo back or frame back, I use a small label with the title or subject, location, and stuff like that. Then the copyright label with my name as photographer. Then I thought a "shot by Canon" label would be cute, but it would piss off the Nikonites.

I just sign on the Mat either with a pencil or a silver colored marker. I never put any labels on the back of the print as you never know however acid free may be the adhesive, what it may cause after few years.
All my prints are mounted on buffered Rag board with acid free archival tapes. But I never put anything which says which tool (Camera and lens) I have used to produce the photograph.

Is there a specific reason for that? I'm just curious.
Either I shoot my Canon film camera and scan with my Canon slide scanner, or I shoot my Canon digital camera. Either way, "shot by Canon" applies.

Does any author write "I have used Mont Blanc writing instrument to write this master piece or I have used MS Word to type and Adobe InDesign to format my latest fiction"? Well if you get paid for that statement, then you may very well do that.
Photography is an art and Canon EOS is nothing but a tool. Tomorrow if I have enough extra dough to buy a Mamiya with a Leaf digital back, I will never think twice to switch over to it. I have no special attachment for the gear I am using than a mason for his brick laying tools or a painter for his brushes and paints.

How do you like the Canon slide scanner? which model? does it perform to your satisfaction?

I had used a Polaroid Sprintscan 35 Plus for about five years, exclusively for 35mm color slides, and then in November 2002 I suddenly replaced my desktop computer and slide scanner on the same day. This is a Canon FS4000US, so it does 4000 lines of resolution and has both USB and SCSI interfaces. Since I always scan in the maximum resolution and color depth, each frame comes out between 100 and 150 MB, so bring along lots of disk space if you try this. But then, that is why we burn our own CD-ROM and DVD disks. It has the same de-dust and de-scratch feature as Nikon, but if you have a very seriously abused slide, it will run up to a point and then throw up its hands in disgust. Oh, also bring along lots of RAM for your system. When I bought this computer with 512 MB of RAM, I figured that was plenty. Nope. After a month or two, I increased it to 1 GB of RAM, and the batch process of four slides was noticeably sped up.
I'm satisfied with it, and lately I've noticed that the new price has dipped down a bit.
