View Full Version : Is there a limit to how many threads you can post?

Is there?
If not is it possible to perhaps put one in place? I haven't been around too much the past few weeks but today I noticed that a particular user has 15 threads on the first page in one of the photo sharing forums, which doesn't leave much room for anyone else when they get bumped off in two hours because someone is posting their 6 threads featuring one photo for the day, and then responding to his 9 threads from the previous two days.
Is there some kind of guideline for this sort of thing?

Yep, that's annoying.

The software does not have a restriction and I think it would be dificult to implement one.
Currently the rules and guidelines do not specify anything in this regard.
It is a balance between number of photos in one thread vs number of thread.
I have been out for a few hours so I have not seen where this occurs right now. Which forum?
In my opinion members should be considerate to other members and not flood a forum with photo threads and definately not bump all like You describe that is plain rude and disrespectfull to other members.
Since there currently is no rules all I can do for now is encourage members to restrain themself and don't overcrowd a forum.

I didn't mean software wise, I meant just an addendum to the rules to handle it. There's no coding that I can't insult your mother, but someone will address the issue if it comes up no less ;)
I really do think this is an issue of common courtesy. I know for sure that there are going to be replies of "well, it's just common courtesy to do that, it would be rude otherwise" and I agree. I agree 100% actually. But the problem is, that what happens when someone doesn't follow that basic common courtesy? It's happening right now, and without some kind of rule or guideline to address it, well I guess it's going to keep happening.
On a busy week, I might post three threads total. I don't really see why people need to go much beyond this. Maybe you had an absolutely fabulous and productive week and have five threads to share in the same forum, and as an occasional thing, I don't see the problem. But we're talking about several threads per day, with one photo per thread, and FIFTEEN threads by the same user on the front page. That's half the total threads or about half if I'm not mistaken.
Look around the urban forum and you may see something like this happening there. I'm not really trying to point fingers but at the same time, I'm pretty disapointed to see this happening.

Rich I have seen it and will address this.
I totally agree it is an issue of common courtesy which it should not be necesary to mention in the rules but maybe it is time to add something like that. This will be discussed internally in the mod team.

Much obliged (if there was a "tip your hat" smiley, I'd use it. Just use your imagination instead)

I did post a message to the chap in one of his threads this afternoon. I think it is just a misunderstanding. I want to see his shots, but as Rich says not just one at a time and flooding a section.

I know your mother, and the insults are justified :p ;)

I read this post and i piece together and see that it refer me.
Yes, I post many pictures as request, but I NEVER respond to my own post unless in respondence to someone else. Seem like there some sort of misrepresentation of fact you make.
Just like I misunderstand unwritten rule, Mr. Twitcho, I believe that you misunderstand what happen. I make honest mistake. I make amend.
You don't represent fact. You make mistake too.
Everybody make maistake.
MOST people apologize.
