Looking to achieve maximum depth of focus (or minimum?)

Basically, I want to know the settings for my S2 that will give me the most background blur. The subject will be the head of my guitar at whatever distance is suggested...thanks in advance.

Wide open (smallest number aperture) at as long a focal length as you can use and as close as you can get.

I'd suggest using a +3 close-up filter, zooming until you're at the very edge of f/3.2, manually focusing to as close as it will do, then physically move and position the camera to bring the desired detail into focus.
