430EX speedlite

I just checked the B&H site looking for a 420EX and discovered it's no longer offered. It has been replaced with the 430 EX speedlite. Is the 430EX compatible with a G3 as the 420EX was? How long has the 420 been discontinued?

The 420EX was replaced around last October, when the 5D came out. The 430EX should work fine (with maybe a few extra bells and whistles).
