I upgraded the laptop to a Dell 9300.
WOW. WUXGA is amazing.
I was missing so much detail in my pictures that the old 1024 screen just couldn't resolve. Stunning.
If this post convinces one person to go for ultrabright WUXGA I will have done my duty. You simply will not be let down. Not for the old of eye who can't read small print though.
Wow....

I totally agree; I have the last gen of that monitor in my Inspiron 9100 and love it. PLUS you can use the digital output to connect to a flatscreen and have 2 monitors for adobe!
Enjoy!

...the very first thing I did. Adobe RGB and full profile built.
So sharp. Looking at other, older pictures with a new light.

Thanks for the tip! So I guess it isn't hard to read that resolution on a 17" screen? Or is the Dell a 19"?
<edit> Ooops, sorry! I see you already said it was small print, but readable for normal eyes.
I guess the American version of the Inspiron 9300 is the Inspiron E1705... That's the only one I could find with the WUXGA screen option.

I'm lost. What is WUXGA?
I know how you feel about the resolution though. I just went from 3 17" monitors at 1280x1024 each, to 2 24" monitors at 1920x1200 and I'm still drooling.

WUXGA is the Widescreen version of UXGA. WUXGA native resolution is 1920x1200. It is found on some 17" widescreen laptops. (most 17" laptops are probably WSXGA)
UXGA resolution is 1600x1200. SXGA resolution is 1280x1024. WSXGA resolution is 1680x1050.
See here (http://www.gen-x-pc.com/lcd3.htm) for a more complete explanation.
Basically, the laptop's 17" screen is dispaying the same desktop space as your WUXGA 24" displays. :-)

Have you calibrated it? I had been using my Dell 23" wide-screen for 6 months and loved it. Then I picked up the Spider2. WHOA! What a difference!

I want that Dell 30" widescreen.
But for now I have to settle with dual Dell 2001FP's.

I just ordered a Dell Inspiron E1505 the other day. But, I'm cancelling my order. :(
