View Full Version : Probs with card/reader writer

I've read in many post's that people have had problems with getting images off the camera. What about non-camera related files.

I put them on at one computer, in the MISC folder, then i brought it home, and now "can't read from the specifc device". Only happens on a few files so the device is working, well kinda.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Try to use software to recover the file first ( i forgotten about the software name) but i think you'll be able to get it from www.downloads.com, after that format your CF card using a card reader.

How do u format with a card reader/writer? I dont have it on me at the moment but i'm guessing u right click the "removable drive" and format? Thats where the A: on is thats all.

Is there any difference from formatting with the camera and the writer? I'm trying to get away with pics and files so i though that it would have to be formatted for the camera.

I'll format with card then with camera, hopefully might do something.

As u said, format by right clicking the removable media (CF card) and format it the normal way and make sure it's file system is FAT32. As far as I know, A70 can support FAT32 and there's no problem at all.

Some camera needs the CF card to be formatted by using the camera itself, otherwise it won't read the CF card normal way. But as far as I concerned, there shouldn't be any problem using the card reader to format the CF card for the A70. As for my opinion, it's better to use a card reader to format the CF card coz I have a bad bad experience before using the A70 to format the card causes my card to be defective and I took it for warranty claim. I using Kingston 256mb CF card. I contacted the Kingston support, they recommend me to use the card reader to format the CF card. I don't know about other manufacturer like Sandisk, Delkin, Hagiwara, PQI, Apacer etc...

Yeah it does help, i'll format with the reader, then test out what the camera does with the 16mb card that came with, it might be small but it's handy for testing.
