30D + Olympus flash FL40 = ?

Anyone tried this combination before, my brother offered to lend me this "permanently" if need be. The alternative is a Speedlite 430EX.

Might work in manual flash mode. Won't give you E-TTL flash, and might even be worse if the supplemental contacts don't agree with each other. Get the 430EX.

I agree with Jon. Might work in manual, won't work on auto, might fry something. Use the 430 ex.

My brother who has both the fl40 and the 420EX has said I could have the 420EX on a near permanent loan. Think I go for that? I also spoke with some Canonreps and they said they wouldn't have upgraded to the 430EX from the 420! Any comments?

IMPORTANT - TAKE A LOOK HERE: http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

This listing (can't access it now as its blocked from my work internet access) should tell you whether the flash will fry your camera or not.
If it's not in there, better don't try it out!

Best regards,
Andy
