Firmware upgrade

According to the Canon site the latest firmware released was 1.0.0.3 on 20/12/2001.
The EXIF information on a second hand Pro90 I have just bought says that it is operating under firmware version 1.06 Is there a reason for this apparent contradiction?
Is it possible that there are non-Canon firmware upgrades about?

Worked it out myself - 1.0.0.3 just shows up as 1.06 when reporting for some reason - don't knw why but I am happy that I have the latest firmware, I guess there will be no more.
